Where's Tanya Harding When You Need Her?

Wednesday night Notre Dame pays a visit to US Bank Arena downtown to take on UC. Surprisingly the Irish come in riding a 5 games loosing streak. The last three being to top ten teams, Pitt, UConn and Marquette. Coach Cronin talks about Notre Dame and how tough they are, especially with the position they are in conference wise.

The Irish score a bunch of points and slowing them down means slowing down All American candidate Luke Harangody. Last year UC held him to 1 point in the first half, but they he exploded for 24 in the second half. If the snow can't slow him down, Coach Cronin has come up with "plan B".

This is a home game for UC. Coach Cronin said that part of the negotiations were that UC students would be on the floor in the bleachers behind each basket. During the "Cronin Era" the Bearcats are 3-0 at US Bank Arena, including a victory earlier this season against Mississippi State. Wednesdays game against Notre Dame is not on local cable. ESPN 360 is the only way to see the game. Tickets are still available. Tip Time: 7:30 at US Bank Arena downtown.

Young Team, Making Progress and Playing With Passion

In their last 6 conference games the Bearcats are 4 and two with a couple of road wins.  This is not an easy conference for a teams "mentality".   That was one of the topics covered Tuesday afternoon before practice.   Games are going to be won, but games are also going to be lost.  With such a young team it's important for them to remain "even keel" and not get too high or too low.

Last year this team was in the second year of the reconstruction process, looking back how far has this program come?
Monday afternoon the team looked back at some film from the team last year.  One thing Deonta Vaughn noticed is that last years team played with tremendous passion.  Passion this years team is having trouble matching.
Wednesday morning we will post some of the comments made today about the game against the Fighting Irish at US Bank Arena.

Books and Basketball

Saturday afternoon the women's basketball team faces another top 25 team when they travel to South Bend.  Notre Dame is ranked as high as #13 in one poll.  Taking on top ranked opponents is only half of the battle these players encounter each and every day.  Remember, they are students  as well as athletes.   David Harding found out that the women's basketball team has quite a juggling act between the basketball and the books.

Bearcat Sports Page.com wold like to thank Uptown for sharing this story with us.  Uptown is a news show put together by students in Electronic Media out of CCM.  Just like Bearcat Sports Page.com it is a class offered by Electronic Media and the stories done by students are part of their quarterly grade.

Up next: Another Top 20 Team

With a week off to build on the "UCONN experience", Saturday the Bearcats travel to South Bend to take on the #17 ranked Fighting Irish.  Last Saturdays 31 point loss to UCONN was a better game for UC than the score indicates.  The Bearcats lost the first half 39-7.  They won the second half  27-26.  After practice Wednesday we talked to Shelly Bellman about the game, what was said at half time and how the second half can help in the future?

Great Season Comes to an End

The women's soccer team ended their season earlier Sunday afternoon with a 0-5 loss to Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish came into the contest not only as the #1 seed in the Big East Tournament, but as the #1 team in the country.
Bearcat Sports Page .Com congratulates Coach Salmon, her staff and the players for making history as the first team to make the post season conference tournament.
Just because the season is over does not mean that our coverage of this team is. We will continue to bring you information and updates through out the off season.
Our staff would like to thank Coach Michelle Salmon, UC Sports Information Director Laura Thornton, and the players for their cooperation over the past few weeks while we have covered them at the end of the season.

#1 Team...No Problem

The women's soccer team travels to South bend Sunday for their second round game in the Big East Tournament. Thursday night they earned the right to advance by defeating St. John's in their first round game 1-0.
In the month of October the team went 5-1-3 with their only loss coming last Sunday in the final game of the year against Georgetown in double over time. However, the team didn't end September on such a positive note. They suffered their worst loss of the year to Notre Dame 0-6 on September 28. The Irish finished the season undefeated.
That was then, this is now. When the team embarked on their trip to New York they were confident that they would win and advance. By no means is it arrogance, with this team it's the confidence they have in themselves and each other. That same attitude boarded the bus earlier today.
Bearcat Sports Page . com caught up with the team before practice Friday and spoke with them about this confidence, and how it will help them as they take the field Sunday against the #1 team in the country.
