Bearcat football may not be in the top 25 on the field (yet), but they are when it comes to the classroom.
The team recently received a 2008 American Football Coaches Association Academic honorable mention for it's recent graduation success rate of over 90% for the class entering in 2001.
The award is given based on the NCAA's graduation success rate formula, which measures the academic success of student athletes on a six year graduation window.
UC was one of 7 programs honored here is a list of the programs:
Cincinnati
Colorado
Duke
Navy
Notre Dame
Rutgers
Vanderbilt
Each of the seven schools achieved over 90% success.
46 programs across the country graduated 70% or more of their football student athletes.
Considering the list of schools, that is a tremendous accomplishment. The academic support staff should be congratulated as should the football staff for bringing in the type of athletes that prepare for the classroom as seriously as they prepare for the playing field.
