It's Valentines Day and for the first time three years the the Bearcat players are playing in meaningful games down the stretch. Deonta Vaughn is a junior this year and he remembers what his coach told him after his freshman season.
With the opponent Saturday being the #4 team in the country there's little chance they will be "looking past" the Pitt Panthers. However, with everyone around them speculating on who they have to beat to get in the tournament they are focusing on one game at a time.
Pitt plays a big game against UCONN Monday, so the question arises, will the Panthers be looking past UC.
Beating the panthers will be a difficult task. Coach Mick Cronin admires their toughness and their point guard. Coach Cronin says that Pitt's point guard is as good as they come.
Last year the Bearcats surprised Pitt when they came to Fifth Third Arena and handed the Panthers a loss. One of the keys to that successful evening was the play down low of Adam H, John Williamson and Marcus Sikes. They played a physical game and got Dejuan Blair in foul trouble early.
The odds makers don't have much confidence in the Bearcats, they are listed as a 16 point underdog. They have size, strength and a tremendous home court advantage. So what will it take to beat them?
